Health will cover four main topics, with each topic lasting four weeks:
- Lifelong Wellness: Dimensions of Wellness, Health Problems in the US Today, Positive Wellness Behaviors, Germs, Hygiene & the Immune System
- Stress Management: Sleep Behaviors, Techno-stress, Time Management, Prevention
- Physical Fitness: Components, Basic Principles, SMART Goals, Calculating Heart Rate
- Nutrition: Essential Nutrients, Healthy Diets, Food Label Analysis, Food Logs
Each week includes an introduction, reading and/or topical videos, along with occasional questions/notes to take before the next class, where we’ll review and do an activity to practice what we have learned. Because this course has a wide age range, we will cover a broad scope of information for each of those topics. Everyone is in a different place for health, even during adolescence, so each topic will provide relevant content to help the student grow in each area. At the end of the semester, students should be equipped to create a project/paper blueprint for living life to the healthiest.
Course Material Fee: $20 (includes spiral-bound book and materials for in-class activities)
