Government & Constitution: Exploring the Principles of Our Forefathers
In this year-long class, students will explore the foundations of the U.S. government and the biblical and moral principles that shaped our nation. We’ll walk through the Constitution, the ideas of the Founding Fathers, and how their beliefs about freedom, justice, virtue, and personal responsibility continue to impact us today.
Semester One Focus:
• Study the U.S. Constitution and the structure of our government
• Read and discuss key documents like the Declaration of Independence, Federalist Papers, and Bill of Rights
• Learn about checks and balances, separation of powers, and the responsibilities of citizens
• Explore how a Christian worldview connects to law, liberty, and justice
Semester Two Focus: From Principles to Participation
• Learn who our current U.S. and Idaho legislators are and what they stand for
• Practice researching candidates and issues through a Christian worldview
• Discover how to get involved: writing to representatives, understanding ballots, and preparing to vote wisely
• Complete hands-on projects such as creating a simple voter guide or “Christian citizen action plan”
This class is designed to help students move from simply knowing about government to living as informed, engaged followers of Christ in today’s culture.
